vs. Oklahoma! What an awesome game. Brett and the boys (all 4) were huddled around the TV watching the game while I was getting in a little sewing/ watching the game myself. There was a lot of cheering going on in our house! What a great way to kick off the College football season!

Finding a little time ...

to craft or sew isn't easy these days. We have been so busy getting things ready for the rapidly approaching due date of baby boy #4 (who is still currently nameless). With just one day shy of 3 weeks to go, there is still more to do, but I needed to take a break from de-cluttering, organizing, laundry and overall nesting to work on a little project and Mother's Day was just the excuse that I needed. So here is my latest creation that I sewed for my Mom for Mother's Day. Hopefully she has received it by now so I don't ruin her surprise (yes, I just sent it off and yes, I know it's late, someday I will get my act together, hopefully).

I used these instructions here, and even though it took a little more than an hour for me to complete it,(3 boys + 2 friends from school = an apron in a couple of hours!) I love how it turned out and I may need to make another one for myself.

So here it is: (*I am way to pregnant to model this little beauty and go figure, but I couldnt get any boy in this house to help me out, so a dining table chair did the trick.)



Now if I can just find some time to work on my diaper bag, and my car seat canopy, I will be doing good!

Friday the 13th...

I am not a superstitious person, but my Friday the 13th is off to a crazy start! I couldn't sleep last night (due to pregnancy and an oncoming cold and sore throat), woke up grumpy, Cameron came in early this morning first to tell me that he had a stuffy nose and second to inform me that he burst Erik's sticky, gooey ball (filled with who knows what) that he got at a birthday party and it was all over him and Erik's bed. So I dragged myself out of bed, bathed Cameron, threw Erik's sheets in the wash, packed lunches, fed Austin breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, sent the boys off to school, and ate a cookie (never a good sign when you're eating cookies before 9:00am). Next, I picked up the toys left lying around from the night before and was about to start my daily chores, when I decided that I needed some "crafty" down time. So.... I took all my spring fabric squares (that I cut out yesterday for my runner) and I layed them out the way I wanted them (with a little help from my assitant, Austin) and now I am ready to sew! But now it will have to wait until I finish my chores! But at least it's a start and a good little break from my hectic morning.

Sneak Peek...

I am almost done with my Valentines table runner! I am quite pleased with how it is turning out. I have learned a lot about quilting doing this little project. It is the most intricate quilting project that I have done (and really it's not that intricate). I am enjoying the process, however, I have discovered something about myself... I am not very patient! I know, who would have thought?! I am so used to doing projects that are completed quickly (usually within the same day that I start them) and of course I love the instant gratification that comes with that, but this has been a process that has taken me weeks (granted I haven't been able to work on it as much as I would have liked). Anyway as this runner has come together, I am finally getting excited about seeing the finished product. My goal: finish it this week. Check back to see it completed! A carpenter in the making....

Cameron had a career day at school last week. The kids had to write a presentation on what they want to be when they grow up and then they had to dress up accordingly and present their ideas to the class. The parents were invited to go and watch. It was so cute. Cameron worked hard on his presentation and practiced it several times at home. We pulled out his tools and hard hat for his costume but something was missing...a tool belt. I dug through my stash of fabric remnants and spent about an hour sewing him a tool belt (see, you can craft for boys!). He loved it and that makes me a happy Mom! He looked so cute (just like a little carpenter) and he did an awesome job on his presentation! Way to go Cameron!

I love how this tote turned out. I love the pleat on the front. Remember my thrift store finds? I used the pretty vintage pillowcase to create this bag.




Up next, another placemat tote. This has to be one of my favorite bags to date! I love the butterfly fabric that I used and the cute little tie on the front of the tote.
