Just a random post...

Just wanted to share a couple of pictures of my boys from Father's Day.

Who Stole the cookies from the cookie jar?....

A couple nights ago I made chocolate chip cookies for dessert. The next morning Brett heard Austin saying "mmmm...cookie" and he turned around to find Austin chomping down on any cookie that he could get his hands on.

After I took this picture, I discovered about 5 cookies with little bites out of them. Do chocolate chip cookies count as a nutritious breakfast?!

Sponge Balls and Popsicles...

We are sooo ready for summer break (even if it is only 3 weeks long)! One more week of school and the boys are counting down. I have all these fun ideas that I want to do with the boys during the summer. We did our first activity today. We made sponge balls. You can find the instructions here and here. It took just seconds to assemble our sponge balls and then the boys were off to run through the sprinklers and and play with their new toys. Aside from a few tears (Cameron had sunscreen in his eye and Austin didn't like being in the middle of the sprinklers), the boys had a blast. The boys even ganged up on their mom! After the fun, we had popsicles and then the boys thought that we should stick with the sponge theme of the afternoon and they decided to sit down and watch a little SpongeBob!

Back to School Night and a new handbag...

Last night was Back to School Night for the boys. This is one of my favorite events at the school, because the kids work so hard for this and they are so excited to bring us to their classrooms to show off all the fun things they've made throughout the year. Cameron was beyond excited! He told us that he was going to be the teacher for the night and he got to take us around his room with this little stick that he used to point to all of his work. My favorite project of Cam's was this self portrait artwork that he made and it had a list of things about him. It said that he wants to be a scientist when he grows up and one of his favorite things to do is play with his brother. He also said that his brothers make him happy! Too cute! Erik was quite excited for the evening as well. My favorite project of Erik's was this story that he wrote. Earlier in the year, his class went on a field trip to a local schoolhouse that has been here since the 1800's. Each child was a given a name for the day. Erik was Isaac and they had to write a story about this child's life. He did such a good job on his story. It was very detailed! After the classroom tours, we headed over to Coldstone for dessert.

(*Notice Erik's puppet in the background. They turned out so cute!)

I created a new handbag last night. I really like how it turned out! This is completely my own creation. I drew the pattern for the bag and the daisy on the front. Too cute! You can check out more pictures of it here.

Puppets and movie night

I was asked to sew 20 puppets for Erik's class at school. They created these adorable puppets out of paper mache and a toilet paper roll, so I was basically sewing their puppets clothes. My friend cut them out and all I had to do was stitch them up. Then we headed off to school to help the kids decorate their puppet costumes. The kids did an amazing job creating and painting their puppets. I was amazed at how creative they were. (I will have to post a picture of the finished puppets later.) So now the kids begin practicing for their puppet shows. I can't wait to see the big production. By the way, Erik will be starring as the first little pig in the 3 little pigs. I thought that this would be a great project for our cub scouts as well. It would definitely take a few weeks to complete the puppets, but when they were done, they could perform a puppet show at pack meeting to fulfill some of their scouting requirements. Stay tuned for more!

Now for movie night...once a week we try to hold a family movie night usually on Friday. We rent a movie that the whole family will enjoy and of course who can watch a movie without popcorn and candy! The boys get to pick out a special treat and then we all plop down for some good, wholesome family time. This week the boys chose Alvin and the Chipmunks. (Thank goodness for $1.00 movies from Redbox.) The movie was OK, not as cute as the old cartoons that I loved when I was a kid, but the boys were laughing and just having a great time.

Father's Day ideas....

Here is what we are making for Cub Scouts tomorrow...just thought that I would share.

Father's Day Trail Mix
Chex- Because you always Chex on me.
Goldfish- Because you're the Big Fish in my sea.
Cheetos- Because you're the Big Cheese!
Peanuts- Because sometimes you're a little nutty!
Pretzels- Because you guide me through life's twists and turns.
Teddy Grahams- Because you're the Beary best!
Kisses- Because I love you!

Then I thought that we would make this card to go along with it.
