A big week for Cameron

First his tooth, now riding a bike with no training wheels! Last night while I was at Hula class (that's another post), Brett took Cameron out to ride his bike. When I came home, he was cruising up and down the street! So exciting! Way to go Cameron!

Ok now for the Hula...I am taking a hula dancing class once a week and I love it! Sorry, no actual photo for this post, but you can imagine that I look something like this (HA HA)... It is a lot of fun and surprisingly a great workout! Now I'm off to practice my moves (Do you think you can Hula and vacuum at the same time? I'll let you know).

Yet another project(s) in the works...

Brett and I have officially become "junkers". It all started with the hutch. Since then, we have found a side table, dresser, a desk (possibly 2) and now a coffee table....all that need some TLC. Our garage is starting to look like a furniture consignment store (Hi Jed, don't worry, eventually we'll clean it up and organize it for the vette). I am so excited about this coffee table. I found it on Craigslist and it couldn't be more perfect for me! It is exactly what I have been looking for and the best part, it only cost me $25! Here is the before:

and you'll have to stay tuned for the after. (Isn't it cute!)

She came!

The Tooth Fairy came and left Cameron a dollar! A little bag with 4 shiny quarters inside! Congratulations Cameron! I asked him what he was going to spend his dollar on and he told me that he was going to save it to buy "Storm Lasher" Awesome!

After days of wiggling...

Cameron lost his first tooth! However, the tooth is missing. We suspect that it fell out at school while he was eating his apple at lunch. Oh well, I am sure the Tooth Fairy will still come. Cameron came out to the car after school and I asked him to show me his tooth and we discovered that it was gone. He was so excited! He came home immediately and wanted to call Dad with the good news! Doesn't he look cute with his new smile?!

Summer Reading List

I just finished reading a couple of books from my summer reading list, and they were both terrific. Just thought that I would share:

Al Capone Does My Shirts

Beauty
By Robin Mckinley
(I loved this book and couldn't put it down!)

Up next? Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (Twilight Series)

It's official...

Summer has ended! The boys are back in school. Erik has started 4th grade and Cameron is now in 1st.

Whatever will I do with both of them in school full time?

Oh yeah, chase after this little monkey!

We love Jelly Bellies...

While the cousins were visiting, we took all the kids to the Jelly Belly Factory for a tour and some sweet treats. Here are a few pics of our fun-filled day...

After the tour, we had lunch at the Jelly Belly cafe. (*Notice the jelly bean shaped pizza...too cute)

Happy Birthday Austin...

My baby is 2! Austin celebrated his birthday on Jul 19. (I can't believe how quickly time passes.) It was so fun to have his cousins visiting with us to help us celebrate his special day. (Simone, Benson and family we miss you guys!) We also had the pleasure of having Grandpa Jed and Kathy here. We love having family around.

The kids each got to decorate and eat their robot cupcake. We made the robots out of starburst and licorice. They turned out pretty cute and the kids had a lot of fun making them.

Austin really loves dogs. So needless to say, this was his favorite gift.

A boy and his dog. I love this picture. I love how he is looking back to make sure that "puppy" is following him.

Happy Birthday Austin! We love you!

Legos, boys and messes....

Sunday afternoon... a day for rest right?! Not at our house. I was upstairs enjoying a few moments to myself, but as I was coming down to check on the boys, I was greeted with this: This trail of destruction led me to 3 little boys and 1 reading Father. Erik wants me to post that this was young Austins doing and that he is the one we refer to as the "destroyer". The couch is a battle that I am losing. The boys, on a daily basis, pull all the cushions off onto the floor and jump from the couch to the mound of pillows and cushions. I told Austin to come show me what he was doing in there and here you have it: And now for your viewing pleasure, a live action shot.

Oh good heavens!

The boys have been busy building with Legos. Erik and Cameron wanted me to post a picture of their latest creations.

(notice the missing couch cushions....Austin)

One more sweet picture to share...

Now off I go to do a little cleaning up!

Another big project in the works...

I have one more thrift store find that I am so excited about! I was browsing through our local Discovery Shop and I came across this little beauty....

I love this table. It is perfect for my living room. Can't wait to get started!

Ta Da!

Here is my new hutch! I love it! Can you believe this was free?!

Once again, here is the before:

And here is the after:

Now here it is loaded with all my new things!

Next project.....

The lovely little basket shown here along with my thrift store finds is going to get a new look. The green, floral pillowcase is going to become a tote bag and the white, embroidered tablecloth is going to become an apron (at least that is the plan for now). Also check out my "new" skirt!

Boys will be boys...

The other night, my boys were busy as could be. They took a bunch of blankets into our living room and I could hear them in there just talking away, and then a few minutes later, Cameron came in and asked me if he could use some cups as wheels. I said OK, but now I was very curious as to what they were up to and thought I had better check things out. This is what I found:

A fire truck! How cute is that?!

Just a little project....

Some friends of ours had this hutch just wasting away in their garage, and asked if we would like to have it. My first thought was that we didn't have anywhere to put it (even though I have always wanted a hutch), so I said let me think about it and it didn't take long for me to find a spot and a vision for it and I called them back and said Yes! I want it! so here is the before picture.
Isn't it lovely?

Now the work begins...

Austin found the perfect little seat.

All primed and ready to paint!

We are almost finished. Stay tuned for the big reveal!

Happy 9th birthday Erik!

Can you believe that my baby is 9? I can't (how old does that make me?!) Anyway, Erik celebrated his birthday on June 26th. Because Brett and I were heading off to South Carolina that day, Erik got to open his presents first thing in the morning. (We usually make the boys wait all day to open their presents.) Lynda (aka Grandma Stewart) came to stay with the boys while we were gone, so she took Erik out to dinner (Panera) and shopping for his birthday. He had a great day, and I am pretty sure that he got everything he asked for and more. We have one final birthday event coming up for him....he wants to go see Wall-E. Happy Birthday Erik!
