Yeah! I'm done...

and I "heart" my runner!

It was worth the wait! I also painted these cute little "love" wood block letters...

and here it is all set in place!

Bring on the love!

CA snow!

Thanks to the Marshall family, we were able to play with snow right here in sunny CA! The boys had a lot of fun playing in the snow and the best part about it was....no boots, hats, gloves or cold were required! Thanks for thinking of us!

Oh and I had a lot of fun cleaning up after the snow day...thanks for that Annie! :)

Sneak Peek...

I am almost done with my Valentines table runner! I am quite pleased with how it is turning out. I have learned a lot about quilting doing this little project. It is the most intricate quilting project that I have done (and really it's not that intricate). I am enjoying the process, however, I have discovered something about myself... I am not very patient! I know, who would have thought?! I am so used to doing projects that are completed quickly (usually within the same day that I start them) and of course I love the instant gratification that comes with that, but this has been a process that has taken me weeks (granted I haven't been able to work on it as much as I would have liked). Anyway as this runner has come together, I am finally getting excited about seeing the finished product. My goal: finish it this week. Check back to see it completed! Oh and if you want to make one of your own, you can get the pattern here.

Scootering

Brett has been working on a "project" that he started over the weekend. When he started, his little project, it looked like this:

We picked up this cedar chest at D.I. (thrift store) in utah and hauled it all the way home. We have been wanting a bench to place at the end of our bed and when I saw this, I knew it had lots of potential! So Brett is sanding, priming and painting and I (being pregnant) get to work on the cushion. Now you'll have to check back later this week for the after...let me just say that it is looking awesome! I can't wait to see it finished.

Anyway, while he has been working so hard in the garage on this project, the boys have been out "scootering" Austin is so excited to be able to ride his little scooter, or "Scoot" as he calls it, along with his big brothers.

The race is on:

"Scootering"

The Pinewood Derby

It's that time of year again. Erik has been so excited for the Pinewood Derby. Last weekend we headed over to Napa so that Dad and Grandpa Jed could help Erik design his car. Here is the finished product (The Wedgie):

Last Thursday was the big race:

Waiting for the race to begin

Go Wedgie Go!

"Mom take a picture of me" Check out his shirt...how appropriate for the occasion.

He won a few races and lost a couple too, but he was thrilled to take home the award for the "Sleekest Car Design" and a cookie too. It was a great night!

A carpenter in the making....

Cameron had a career day at school last week. The kids had to write a presentation on what they want to be when they grow up and then they had to dress up accordingly and present their ideas to the class. The parents were invited to go and watch. It was so cute. Cameron worked hard on his presentation and practiced it several times at home. We pulled out his tools and hard hat for his costume but something was missing...a tool belt. I dug through my stash of fabric remnants and spent about an hour sewing him a tool belt (see, you can craft for boys!). He loved it and that makes me a happy Mom! He looked so cute (just like a little carpenter) and he did an awesome job on his presentation! Way to go Cameron!

Here's the scoop...

MySpace Graphics

BOY!!! The score is boys 4 Girls 0. It is official, we are an all boy family! The baby looks healthy and is progressing just as he should. What more could we ask for?! We couldn't be happier! We can't wait to meet this little guy and see what he looks like! Now on to the task of choosing another boy name!

Tomorrow is the big day...

I can't believe that it is time to have my ultrasound. We are excited and looking forward to checking in on the baby. First and most importantly we hope that all is well with this little one and that he or she is healthy and growing as he/she should. But secondly, we are excited to find out if we are welcoming boy #4 or a baby sister for these rowdy, but cute boys! Either way we feel extremely blessed and know that this baby is meant to be a part of our family. So here's your chance to weigh in with your guesses. Check out my poll and vote boy or girl (you can also leave me a comment with your guess). I am not going to post my guess or Brett's yet, but...

Cameron thinks it's a girl,
Austin said it's a baby "gril"
and Erik doesn't know.

I will announce tomorrow what we find out!

Random thoughts....

Random thought #1:
The pickiest eaters in the world live at my house. Erik and Cameron survive on a diet of chicken nuggets, yogurt, cereal, breakfast foods, mac and cheese, peanut butter sandwiches, apples (at least we get a fruit in there on occasion) and there may be one or two more things they eat, but that is about it. Austin may very well be the pickiest of the three. Austin pretty much eats chicken nuggets every day for lunch and sometimes dinner too (thank goodness for those nasty, frozen dinosaur nuggets). So the other day I had a brilliant idea (if I do say so myself). I thought that I could convince him to eat a peanut butter sandwich and I did! How you ask.....

We made frosty the peanut butter snowman! It worked! He ate 2 along with some grapes and wheat thins. And just so that I know it wasn't just a fluke, he requested frosty for lunch today and ate 2 more! Now you may be saying "Hey is that chocolate on that sandwich" Well yes it is (just a little). But you do what you got to do! It doesn't take much to make me a happy mom! It's nice to have options.

Random thought #2:
I have several projects that I want to complete, but I am going to try to pace myself and complete them one step at a time. So first up.... I am making this

I bought my fabric today and I plan to start working on this little beauty over the weekend.

I am so excited! Now you may remember that I blogged about this last year, well I never got around to it, so this is the year! Which leads me to

Random thought #3:
I can't believe that I have kept this little blog going for a year now!

Random thought #4:
Last but not least, I just wanted to post a picture of Austin proudly holding up his playdoh dog. We made this dog and he said "Mom you take a picture of me." Of course!!!

A NEW YEAR...

A NEW LOOK!

Brett and his Dad Jed started a few home improvement projects over the weekend that are now complete! We love how they turned out.

Wainscoting in the kitchen nook:

How cute is that?!!

A shelf in the media nook:

I love the picture of the Salt Lake Temple...thanks Mom and Dad!

And I completed a few little projects of my own as well...

I finally painted my little basket/tray from D.I. (I don't have a before picture, but it used to be country blue)

and I mod podged and framed our Christmas puzzle. I can't wait to put it up next Christmas. (I wonder if Cameron is counting down.)

Even the boys got in on the action:

Nothing like a little yard work to start the year off right!

Austin, a handy man in the making:

Thanks Jed for all your help!

So now the Christmas decor is put away and our house is back to normal (a little improved I might add) and there are even a few more projects in the works. A busy start to the new year! The boys are back to school tomorrow and Brett is back to work. I guess the holidays are now officially over... but we welcome 2009! We are looking forward to another happy and healthy year.
